starting my own venture

It’s officially been a little over a month since I was laid off from Drew Las Vegas due to COVID-19. How am I feeling? To summarize it concisely, I am beyond motivated. It hasn’t been easy by any means with the lockdown and staying compliant with social distancing guidelines but I’ve managed to find the silver lining in a situation that could easily be categorized as the biggest disaster in our lifetime. Did I mention that I’m also recovering from head trauma? More specifically, a contusion and internal bleeding on my right frontal lobe... However, that’s a story for a different time but I’m thankful things aren’t worse and that I’m on the road to recovery.

As I sit here writing this blog in my makeshift office of a patio table in the comfort of my back garden, my mind is racing in various directions. I’ve always been told that I should start my own company. I’ve always been told that I’d be happiest to be self employed. However, I’ve always been in the corporate or agency environment with little time to figure out the planning and logistics of running my own business. Besides, it’s all I’ve known for the past 14 years and has really defined me as the professional I am today.

Much like the rest of the general population, COVID-19 has forced me to slow down and this contusion has given me a lot to consider with the present day situation. Am I opposed to going back to corporate? Not at all as I’ve met the most influential and valued relationships in my career due to those experiences. However, I’m not one to sit around and just wait so I’ve decided to explore launching my own venture. What it exactly means, I’m still figuring out but it’s going to come together quickly.

In the meantime, I’ve been able to help some friends get their passion projects off the ground from light consulting to being the hands on technical geek that I am. In the process, I’ve learned new skills, broke technology and tapped into friends to help me fix my missteps. Anyway, it keeps me on my toes and challenged which is what makes me thrive and continue to better myself. If you’re someone who’s looking to do some freelance or contract work, shoot me a note as I’m looking to exclusively collab with trusted experts in the field. Sorry (not sorry), I don’t deal with frauds or fakes in the business.

Stay tuned as I finalize my business plan. In the meantime, go check out one of my client’s On Demand At Home Workout Series. It was a fun collaboration and fitness has been an underlying theme in keeping my sanity through this quarantine. I have a lot queued in the proverbial pipeline so it’s going to be an exciting time as I debut and reveal in the next couple of weeks.
